Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Monaco

After the introductory post about my trip to Monte Carlo with Longines, main sponsor and official timekeeper of the Global Champions Tour circuit, here we enter the heart of the competition with the highlight class of the event: the Grand Prix of Monaco, height 1.60.

At sunset in Port Hercule, the forty-four starters, enter a traditional formula that includes two rounds and the barrage. Nine those who managed to pull a ticket to the decisive final round. Thank to Longines, we were able to enter the arena during the reconnaissance, and have the course explained by the chef de piste who designed it, in an area as charming as the small and challenging. About this I’ll soon reveal comments of Jane Richard Philips, rider and Longines’ elegance ambassador, right on the leg of Monaco.

The podium has comprised the first three positions in less than a second. The winner was the British and world number one Scott Brash on Hello M’Lady (0/0/0; 28 “45), second place to his compatriot John Whitaker on Argento (0/0/0; 28″ 83), third to Italian Agent of State Forestry Emanuele Gaudiano on Admara 2 (0/0/0; 28 “90), with which he had already won the most important class on the opening day of the competition, the prize Massimo Dutti, a mixed category, height 1.50/1.55.

So winners enter the arena again but for the award ceremony, in the presence of Prince Albert II of Monaco and Charlotte Casiraghi, are rewarded by Charles Villoz, Vice President Longines, with the watch symbol of the event, the Longines Conquest Classic Moonphase:

Let me say once again That we are very proud and very honored to be the official timekeeper. We had a great show yesterday evening, but tonight it was just special. It’s a great sport, I love it, and all the people, all the guests love it as well. I would like to congratulate everybody but first and foremost Scott Brash for a fantastic ride. We especially choose the prize as Longines Conquest Classic Moonphase in stainless and enhanced by the silver dial with moon phases Because it perfectly echoes the elegance and excellence of the stars of the equestrian sports.

Then the curtain falls on the Monegasque leg of Longines Global Champions Tour, and the circuit continues to new fabulous locations, up to the new Italian stage in Rome next September! Stay tuned 😉
Dopo il post di introduzione sulla trasferta a Monte Carlo insieme a Longines, main sponsor e cronometrista ufficiale del circuito Global Champions Tour, ecco che entriamo nel vivo della competizione con la categoria clou dell’evento: il Grand Prix du Monaco, altezza 1.60.

Al tramonto nel Port Hercule, quarantaquattro i binomi al via, per una formula che da tradizione prevede due manche più il barrage. Nove quelli che sono riusciti a staccare un biglietto per l’ultimo giro decisivo. Grazie a Longines ci è stato possibile entrare nell’arena durante il giro di ricognizione del percorso, ed aver spiegazione del tracciato da parte dello chef de piste che lo ha disegnato, in un campo tanto suggestivo quanto piccolo di dimensioni e impegnativo. A questo proposito vi svelerò al più presto i commenti di Jane Richard Philips, amazzone e ambasciatrice dell’eleganza di Longines, proprio in merito alla prova di Monaco.

Il podio ha compreso le prime tre posizioni a meno di un secondo. A vincere è stato il britannico e numero uno al mondo Scott Brash su Hello M’Lady (0/0/0; 28”45) , secondo posto per il connazionale John Whitaker su Argento (0/0/0; 28”83), terzo il nostro agente scelto del Corpo Forestale dello Stato Italiano Emanuele Gaudiano su Admara 2 (0/0/0; 28”90), insieme alla quale aveva vinto già la prova più importante nella giornata di apertura del concorso, il premio Massimo Dutti categoria mista, altezza 1.50/1.55.

Ecco quindi che i vincitori entrano in campo per la cerimonia di premiazione, alla presenza del Principe Alberto di Monaco e Charlotte Casiraghi, vengono premiati da Charles Villoz, Vice Presidente Longines, con l’orologio simbolo dell’evento, il Longines Conquest Classic Moonphase :

Permettetemi di dire ancora una volta che siamo molto orgogliosi e onorati di essere il cronometrista ufficiale. Abbiamo assistito ad un grande spettacolo ieri sera, ma stasera è stato semplicemente speciale. E ‘ uno sport fantastico, mi piace, piace a tutti, agli ospiti. Vorrei congratularmi con ognuno dei cavalieri, ma in primo luogo Scott Brash per una performance grandiosa. Abbiamo scelto appositamente come premio Longines il Conquest Classic Moonphase in acciaio, dal quadrante argentato e con le fasi lunari perché riecheggia perfettamente l’eleganza e l’eccellenza delle stelle degli sport equestri.
